New Friend

Thom was pretty much raised by Flix. She doesn't really understand why someone (read: Una's dad Wygar) would object to her being around children. Flix is a very intelligent creature, but as Wygar tried to explain to his daughter, "She's a wild animal that knows how to talk, and the second you forget that is the second somebody gets hurt".

It works out for the best in this case, though, and Una grows up with a similar relationship to Flix that Thom has, with the addendum that her biological parents are still present, still together, and both very much a part of her life. Flix does not get on well with Wygar.
