I never actually wrote this scene; given that Cally's (mercifully) unconscious and Sarkany's internal monologue at this point consists of '*screaming*', there weren't many characters with a good point of view to write from. I suppose I could've used the Captain, but even she wasn't in place to really see all of it, so in the end I preferred to go the timeskip route and rejoin the guys once Cally came to. Despite this, I've always had a very clear mental image of what actually happened, including the fact that despite (or perhaps because of) Ifrinn's primitive attempt at cauterisation, Cally very nearly died. Cally has nightmares about Ifrinn; Sarkany has nightmares about this.

I don't think Cally looks like she has quite enough weight here (probably could've made her jacket look heavier), but on the plus side I'm pretty pleased with how Sarkany's expression turned out, especially his eyes. The background is actually a heavily Photoshopped picture I took on holiday a few years ago, mostly because I was feeling too lazy to draw one. It's actually of a valley in Ireland, which I've now pressed into blurry service as the foothills of the High Tatras.

Mature Warning'd just in case. I don't actually think it's that graphic - my style of drawing isn't really realistic enough - but better safe than sorry.
