Burnt Hands and Steam Power

No connection.

Soo. There's Thom, running her hand under a cold tap for reasons that should be self-evident.

And, the main drawing on this page, Hedley. He's not a robot, because that tends to imply he has some level of autonomy - which he doesn't. He's my first real foray into steampunk, which I have discovered that I really like. (if you're not sure what steampunk is, look it up on Wikipedia.) Hedley is only a he in the sense that people sometimes refer to boats and the like as she. He's a vehicle which Thom helped to build, and is pretty much entirely steam-powered. He's about fifteen feet tall from his front toes to the top of his highest funnel. The driver sits on that seat on his shoulders, behind his head but in front of the funnels. His head is on a sort of complicated ball-and-socket joint - you steer him by holding onto his horns and moving his head that way. Thom uses him as transport when she visits his world - he can go at twenty miles an hour, top speed - and the rest of the time the people in Hedley's world use him, and other machines like him, for heavy hauling - pulling lorries, working pulleys etc. They also use some smaller lighter ones as walking tanks in warfare - which is handy, as they can double as furnaces. Sci-fi was the closest I could get for his category - I think steampunk is a form of sci-fi.

And a little sketch of Hedley, done some time before the main drawing. Full view please. It's really a good bit more effective.
